Europe has long been a destination for touring creative music ensembles, with its appreciative audiences and fair wages. More often than not band members in these ensembles are world-class artists in their own right. The Sideman Projekt invites handpicked musicians to perform solo recitals in small, intimate venues in Berlin either before or after their tour begins or on a day off, thereby giving Berliners an opportunity to hear musicians they might not otherwise have the opportunity to hear and providing additional employment to touring artists.
Additionally the Sideman Projekt gives classical artists a place to preview recital programs prior to performances or competitions on major European stages, taking advantage of Berlin's central location and providing a valuable service for artists and audiences alike.
Beginning in the Spring of 2016 we are proud to add an educational component to the Sideman Projekt by bringing professional musicians to work with primary school music students in Berlin public schools.
The Sideman Projekt is curated and managed by Erica Jacobsohn who has worked in the music business for 20 years including with a major concert presenter in San Francisco, a New York City management office, a prestigious conservatory in Philadelphia, and as a business owner booking and managing classical and jazz artists. She is a dual German-American citizen who divides her time between Berlin and New York City.
